KOSAA – SPHERES / 26.10.2024 / Spektrum Festival

SPHERES is a sound-visual live-act – the result of work from 2023-2024 and the exploration of generative art, algorithms, creative coding, and TouchDesigner software.

A fascination with space, spheres, particles, and the forces of nature—reproduced generatively—along with organic processes and automation, led to the creation of a series of animations and stills based on spheres generated from particles set in motion by sound and natural forces like gravity and wind, while simultaneously controlled by algorithms, code, and frequencies. The common denominator and dominant element is noise—both in the musical and mathematical sense—which takes the form of random values for image pixel parameters or sound harmonic frequencies.

A 45-minute live act presented the complete audio-reactive sphere animations, where sound frequencies directly influence the visual behavior. The music blends electronic, drone, and ambient genres, performed live using a modular synthesizer and additional tools.

Exhibition
The collection of stills (animation frames) depicts spheres at various stages of synthesis and deconstruction. By pointing a tablet or smartphone at them, participants can also view a full audio-reactive animation with sound.
